Hey,
Running Voodoo for several months now.
When I try to issue pacman -Syu in order to upgrade to Duke,
I get some package conflicts.
Those packages are kdelibs and arts, while I have these programs installed via the kdemod repository.
Pacman complains that arts conflicts with kdemod-arts, and requests to remove kdemod-arts:
[root@myhost /home/fio/qdvdauthor-1.0.0]# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
current is up to date
extra is up to date
community is up to date
kdemod is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
warning: xmms: local (1.2.10-9) is newer than current (1.2.10-8)
resolving dependencies... done.
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: arts conflicts with kdemod-arts. Remove kdemod-arts? [Y/n] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: arts: conflicts with kdemod-arts
[root@myhost /home/fio/qdvdauthor-1.0.0]#
When I type "no" (not to remove kdemod-arts), the upgrade simply stops.
I tried typing "pacman -Syu --ignore arts" and got:
[root@myhost /home/fio/qdvdauthor-1.0.0]# pacman -Syu --ignore arts
:: Synchronizing package databases...
current is up to date
extra is up to date
community is up to date
kdemod is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
warning: xmms: local (1.2.10-9) is newer than current (1.2.10-8)
resolving dependencies...
:: kdelibs requires arts from IgnorePkg. Install arts? [Y/n] n
error: cannot resolve dependencies for "kdelibs"
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: kdelibs requires arts>=1.5.7[root@myhost /home/fio/qdvdauthor-1.0.0]#
And when trying to issue "pacman -Syu --ignore kdelibs arts" i got the same as when typing "pacman -Syu --ignore arts".
Any suggestions as to how to bypass those programs the pacman wants to install?
Tnx
Fiod

Is there a "kdemod-libs" that you can install instead of "kdelibs"? (I'm not a KDE user, so I just don't know.)

I think the problem is that the KDE packages from Arch are newer than the packages in kdemod/current. And now pacman wants to update KDE to the original Arch packages. An advise found on the KDEmod thread (maybe that helps!):
It's probably a good idea in general to put the [kdemod] repo above all others in /etc/pacman.conf.
KDEmod has KDE 3.5.7 already in testing and will soon (the next days, maybe this weekend?) move to current.
Normally, if you have any problems with your KDE while using KDEmod, check this thread and ask there for help:
