probably a simple problem to fix [solved]

I am running GNOME on the latest arch 32-bit iso and for some reason I get this error every time I try to read from a cd/dvd or usb drive. any ideas?

Cannot mount volume.

Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied.

Did you add your user to group "optical" and "storage"?

Thanks. I added the user to both the groups and rebooted but I am still having the same problem. Any other ideas?
