Grub Question

This is simply a matter of curiosity.

I used to manually add my Windows XP entry to Grub.  In Voodoo, it's there automatically (just commented out).  There's an option that I never had to add before.  It's makeactive.  What does that mean?

Re: Grub Question

Documentation is such a wonderful thing smile.

Makeactive definition as stated in the Grub Manual on their website

It is not necessary for most modern operating systems.

I have to make sure to add the following before makeactive.

map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)

Edit: Now that I think about it, I don't quite understand what makeactive is doing.  <sigh> I try to help and end up confusing myself.
