Hi there from overseas!
In the near future i'd like to input CJK (and hopefully soon some Russian and Mongolian words as well) but got stuck with my first configs of scim/skim (on KDE). Well, I've been trying to follow the skim-help-dialogs within kde (German locale). Anyway it seems to be quite outdated, because the menus shown there wouldn't match the skim ones. eg in the helping instructions there is an entry "SCIM servers" which probably could be those "IM Engines" I read about, but I couldn't find both in my skim-config~ Additionally, while clicking on 'Input Methods'|'Generic Tables' there is always an error 'couldn't find kcm_skimplugin_scim_tables.la' showing up; I don't know what that could mean, I already installed scim-tables~
Please help!
thx, nexus
Edit: I so far installed the following pkg's:
scim
scim-pinyin
scim-tables
scim-hangul
scim-chewing
scim-anthy
scim-m17n
skim

Well, found something similar in the meanwhile, look here.
So, according to this my error could be s.th. bad with the scim-tables...
Aditionally, her'es my ~/.xinitrc-entry (following this thread):
export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM"
export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
export QT_IM_MODULE=xim
scim -f socket -c socket -d
And all these plugins seem to show up usually in here in a doublepack of files ending {.la,.so}:
/opt/kde/lib/kde3/kcm_skimplugin_scim_tables.so
while my .la is missing instead. Any ideas?

Could the info be important that says
"SKIM 1.4.5 (Compiled with libscim 1.4.4) (KDE 3.5.7)"
?!
Another funny thing is, that within INPUT METHODS|'global configs' in <any language>|<any input method> there is only one available filter for 'traditional/simplified Chinese conversion'... --> probably (a part of) the scim-tables

Well, I got it for now!
-- I had to retire that trespassing skim-pkg: # pacman -R skim
because of the different version to scim (I guess)!
Now I'll figure out the rest.
晚安!
