Arch is a fantastic distro and has been a great experience for me. Having messed around with Slackware and vector Linux, I still have Vector installed, I do miss Dropline Gnome. Any hope on getting this working with Arch???

Isn't it slackware based? So slackware dependant?
I can't see much that it offers over installing gnome through pacman? Or am I missing something? I never installed dropline on my slack system.

It offers a great ready made, properly configured Gnome enviroment with a built in Updater/Installer (dropline-installer).On top of all that dropline is i686 optimized. I have to also mention that "out of the box" it's beautiful to look at.

Isn't the Arch Gnome package already i686 optimized and updated?

aye, it certainly is. That's why I can't see the point in Dropline Gnome

I use Slackware on one of my desktops and have Dropline Gnome installed and as good as it is, you're better off with Gnome from Arch Linux. To me at least, using Dropline Gnome feels like I'm using third party software because technically, it's not part of the distro itself and it's the only part of the distro that's i686 optimized. Whereas in Arch, Gnome and everything else are part of the distro so it's definitely more consistant.

Fair enough. Thanks for the input. I'll give Gnome another look on Arch when 2.6 is available.
