Since today "pacman -Syu" gives me..

error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/current//xdg-utils-1.0.1-1/desc: No such file or directory

What's this?

Looks like a file in your current DB is missing.
Try a 'pacman -Syyu', which forces DB redownloading.

i have similar problem..... but error packages are random...

hmm, using pacman -Syy , it shouldn't check if it's up to date.. It should redownload in any cases.
I don't know why it doesn't work for you, it works fine here.

Maybe you could check with --debug output to see if there is anything interesting.
Otherwise I think you could just rm -r /var/lib/pacman/community/ , and try again ?

/var/lib/pacman/local is very important, it contains all informations about your installed packages.
But the other directories can generally be safely deleted, they just contain the list of packages in sync repos, which is hosted on all mirrors (eg community.db.tar.gz in this case).

Anyway, since I can't reproduce it, it's really very hard to see what's wrong.
Maybe this last output could be more useful to someone more experienced than me though,
so please file a bug (including this last output), and saying pacman version. thanks
