I'm using NetworkManager and nm-applet in gnome.
Everything work fine until a few updates ago.
Now, whether I have a Ethernet cable connected or not, I tries to get a IP on that interface.
It always times-out and ends up with a 169.x.x.x IP.
Is there any way to prevent this:
make it only try to get a IP on the wired interface if there is a cable present?
I posted this in the Newbie Corner because I think the solution may be quite simple.
Thanks!

I've got the same problem... besides that networkmanager also is mostly not able to connect to wireless networks...

With seeing a new networkmanager version while upgrading arch I tried to give it another shot. Now I found out I can connect to wireless networks immediately (before it mostly wouldn't after trying long) but I do have to click connect on the particular network in wifi-radar as well. Then it connects Then I can disable the wireless and switch to wired network with networkmanager later on if I want.. So it's working quite well, and I don't need to start windows anymore to easily connect to wireless networks!
Only problem I still have is that the networkmanager applet sometimes disappears (i'm using icewm tray) when changing network. I start the applet again to solve this, but then I have two! (no big problem )
