Weird module behavior with sky2 and pm-utils

Suspend with pm-utils (from Testing) is working almost perfectly out of the box, with no configuration. Apparently the sky2 module for my ethernet card is unloaded and reloaded as it should be, since I have ethernet connectivity immediately after coming out of suspend.

However, said ethernet connectivity often disappears five to ten minutes after bringing the system out of suspend; attempting to connect to my router fails, confirming that the problem is with my machine. Unloading and reloading the sky2 module fixes it instantly. Strangely, the network manager applet doesn't show eth0 as being when this happens, only after I've unloaded sky2.

What might be the reason for the module failing such a significant amount of time after suspend ends, and what can I do to keep this from happening?
