Howto change with ATI opensource driver the GPU Clock?

With fglrx its easy aticonf --powerstat=1 but howto change with ATI opensource driver the GPU Clock?
Rovclock issent possible its freezing my System everytime ( ./rovlock -c 105 -m 120 )
Is there any other solution to change GPU / RAM Clock like with fglrx driver maybe a switch in opensource drivers?

What version of rovclock do you have?  Get the latest version here: http://www.hasw.net/linux/

What is the output of "rovclock -i".

Have you experimented with other values?

I don't use rovclock myself but this information was found from looking in the Gentoo Forums.

Re: Howto change with ATI opensource driver the GPU Clock?

I have the newst Version.
Every MHz under 200 "-c 200" freez xorg-server in few minutes.

200Mhz or more is Stable but ATI Powerstat can set the Core to 105Mhz and dont freez.

You didn't post the output of the command...  You can have a look here  http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Rovclock and see if your device can be underclocked to such a frequency.  Also, the opensource drivers may not have all the capabilities of the proprietary ones.

Thank you for the Link.

Invalid reference clock from BIOS: 0.0 MHz

This does not look good.  Have you installed the latest BIOS firmware?

Also, in version 0.6 the developer said this:

I've now added some memory timings in version 0.6a. Use with care, better login via ssh to make changes because it's possible that it corrupts your screen.

Consider downgrading to version 0.5 and see if it works.

Bios upgrade on a notebook is possible.  I've done it before.  What model notebook do you have?

very nice thread!

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_ma … t_features

i added the module radeonfb to rc.conf and

Option      "DynamicClocks" "on"

to the device section in xorg.conf
that works there brilliant with my radeon mobility 9000

THX!!

Video BIOS updates are typically included with the Notebook BIOS updates. For example, I own a Dell Inspiron 6400 and I've updated the system BIOS several times, and a couple of those updates included new Video BIOS versions as well.

I can't notice any difference in anything when changing the clock speeds of the GPU.. the temp of the cpu and the fanlevel stays the same..

Acer 1693 WLMI with ATI X700 ( M26 ).

Hasw the rovclock author say:

Original:

0.6e sollte funktionieren.

Also in deinem Fall z.B. (angenommen 310 MHz ist der Default-Takt der Grafikkarte): x = (310/209.25) * 27 MHz = 40 MHz -> rovclock -i -x 4000

I try translate:

In 0.6e, The Memory-Timing option is optional and doesent set per default. No Frequenz changes in 0.6e.
Somtime cant found the referenceclock in the Video-BIOS and it will set as Default to "XTAL: 27.0 MHz" .
If shown Frequenz isent right, you can try -x2900.
The right value you cant set x = (Right Frequenz/Shown Frequenz)*29
Example: If DefaultClock is 310 MHz:  x = (310/209.25) * 27 MHz = 40 MHz -> rovclock -i -x 4000
