I have arch installed on one of my HDD and windows xp on a separate SATA drive.
Will I be able to transfer data from the windows xp HDD to linux?
The filesystem I'm using for linux is XSF and I have NTFS.

Linux can safely mount ntfs as read-only. Look at mount man pages.
In fstab I have for example:
/dev/sdb1 /mnt/windows-c ntfs ro,user,auto 0 0

Have a look @ ntfs-3g:

why?, he only wants to copy from a ntfs drive. The kernel ntfs module is enough for that.

Why not, he may find he would like to copy data to the ntfs drive.
I didn't say he should use ntfs-3g. His question was answered in the first post. I only said to have a look at it.

For what it's worth, I've used ntfs-3g to safely read and write data on a large frequently used NTFS partition without event for several months.
