[solved] How can I re-map my keyboard?

I want to make some very specific changes to my keyboard layout in Arch, but I have no idea where to start. I'm going to switch my Alt and Control keys (I'm a Mac guy, and I'm used to the Control/Apple key being where the Alt is), activate my Page-Left and Page-Right keys, tie my ThinkVantage button to a Terminal (maybe), and map my Volume buttons to work as they do in Ubuntu and some other distros.

So, anyone care to join me in this quest to improve my keyboard? Anyone know what files to edit, or what tools to use?

If your DE has a keyboard mapping tool, that would be the easiest route. Apart from that, what about 'xev' and 'xmodmap'?

Do you know of one such utility for KDE? I suppose I could also use the other two tools you mentioned, but contrary to the "Arch Way", I'd prefer to do this with a graphical front-end. Are there any good resources for xev and xmodmap?
