SMP2 vs SMP for dual core?

Not sure what I am even really asking, but I have a dual core. I was researching bogomips, which basically is how many times your computer does nothing or something like that, and found a section on dual cores, stating SMP2 is better for dual cores? Basically, I am just wondering how to get the most out of my dual core on linux. Any help would be appreciated.
