I need tips for mencoder for encoding videos that are in the format mpg, avi, vob, ts with resolution 1080i, 720p, 720x480, 624x352. He wanted encoding for you are resolutions with the best possible quality and in an appropriate size, when sound is converting the sound for mp3 or MPEG-1 layer 3. I need tips for excellent quality and a good quality using codec xvid e x264.
Formats of the video:
- mpg
- avi
- vob
- ts
Resolution:
- 1080i
- 720p
- 720x480
- 624x352
To convert for avi using the codecs xvid or x264 and sound mp3 or MPEG-1:
1080i to 720p with excellent quality and good compression
720p to 720p with excellent quality and good compression
720x480 to 720x480 with excellent quality and good compression
624x352 to 624x352 with excellent quality and good compression
I have different clips of music and shows that are in different formats, using several codecs and with enormous size. It wanted to standardize the quality and the size.
I need tips for to create bash to automate the process.

Heard good things about them though not used(Re-encoding not really my thing), know they use the mencoder back end are supposed to have a nice interface, with good default presets, and the ability to tweak plenty.
They don't seem to be in the AUR though, as I've yet to dive into PKGBUILD world I can't be much help.
