When I try to use mplayer, I get
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libgssapi.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I searched in /usr/lib and found libgssapi.so.1.0.0 , which is owned by heimdal. Heimdal is up to date.
How do I get the right version?

mplayer from extra repo works fine here. Are you using mplayer-svn or another mplayer package?

I'm using mplayer 1.0rc1-7 from extra. I'll try the svn version and see if it works...
EDIT:
Strange... svn works...

try removing the package from your cache (/var/cache/pacman/pkg ) and reinstalling it. Make sure your system is up-to-date.

Upgrading smbclient as per this page worked for me:
