kernel26viper?

I tried to install this kernel but, it seems the server with the patchset is down.

> Downloading linux-2.6.21-viper2.bz2
--10:08:49-- http://vipernicus.org/files/patches/2.6.21/viper2/linux-2.6.21-viper2.bz2
           => `linux-2.6.21-viper2.bz2'
Resolving vipernicus.org... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.
==> ERROR: Failure while downloading linux-2.6.21-viper2.bz2

Is there an alternative site to get this patch?

Re: kernel26viper?

Vipernicus is currently in the hospital with some very serious conditions.
Please refer to http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-572071.html for specifics. Near the end of page two there's an update by his wife about his condition.

Very sad news...
I thought viper-users should know...

For those that don't know yet it's seems he's passed away.

Re: kernel26viper?

Yeah very sad. RIP.  I loved this kernel and his work.  I'm not quite sure what one to switch to now as I noticed large improvements over the stock kernel while using the viper patchset.  I still have the files saved, but yeah.....

Re: kernel26viper?

I just find out the bad news. Does anyone know if his work will be continued? Are there any alternatives?

Re: kernel26viper?

yer he did do good patch pulling together and did some decent testing with as well (not since the LOVE sources have I had a decent patchset-kernel). Will be missed from f.g.o/otw & from my layman overlay (yes I am a Gentoo user, but Arch server big_smile, server a bit low-CPU for compile-ragging).

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewforum-f-51.html
is the best place to look for custom-kernelsets of high-quality (just wade through the gentoo-specific unsupported app threads)
ragnarok set is good, but kamikaze has been knocking out a few recently.

I have tried ragnarok's patchset and it is nice, not tried kamikaze set mind, I might, but got other issues w.r.t. my kernel atm (the upstream kernel dev's broke support for my D50 camera, but good old dsd sorted it, so will try first before going custom again)
