[SOLVED] Wine 0.9.42 Problem

I try to stay up to date with wine, and I installed the 0.9.42 release.

But with this release I'm getting some weird behaviour when switching away from and to fullscreen wine applications.
Both when switching to an application on the same virtual desktop, and when switching to another virtual desktop.
The window of wine will become either invisible until clicked or disappear and -I'm not sure- get no CPU cycles when unfocussed.

I only play two fullscreen games which are Counter Strike Source and Icewind Dale.
For neither it was a total show stopper - with Counter Strike I could get a new window by messing around with Steam windows (which are not fullscreen) and with Icewind Dale the window reappears by clicking (in the void).
But it's a really big annoyance.

Is anyone else getting trouble with this? I thought maybe it's worth checking out before the maintainer updates the arch package.

Re: [SOLVED] Wine 0.9.42 Problem

I found out what caused this. It's a new behaviour in wine that makes it minimize when unfocused.

More information here:
wine bug report
Same bug report in winehq.
info on patch that did it

if you reverse the patch found in this second url, this one
wine will behave normally again.

This is important - in my experience - for people who do not have a tray/taskbar, because an unmanaged application that is minimized will be gone forever (you can't "alt-tab" to it).
