Can't open JPEG in GNOME

For some reason, i can no longer use JPEG file sin GNOME.

If i open the Desktop background menu, i can see the thumbnails, but when i try to set a JPEG file as a desktop background all i get is a solid color. Also, if i just browse with nautilus until i find one i can see the thumbnail, but as soon as i try to open it with the image viewer i get an 'unknown file type' error.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Can't open JPEG in GNOME

maybe you were left without libjpeg or something for some odd reason. Thumbnails should be saved in png or something else and that's why you can see them... this is just a wild guess though
