Re: xfce problem [SOLVED]

Did you add your user to the group 'video'.

# gpasswd -a USERNAME video

Re: xfce problem [SOLVED]

It looks to me that your user doesn't have a 'right' that root does, hence the root has access to menus and icons and user doesn't.  to find out what groups your user is in use # groups

Other option add this too your users .xinitrc file .

xfce-mcs-manager
xfwm4 --daemon
xfdesktop &
exec xfce4-panel

Re: xfce problem [SOLVED]

here are the groups that I belong to : root disk lp wheel slocate dbus hal network video audio optical floppy storage users
and there is no .xinitrc file in my $HOME dir

the only existed xinitrc files are located in /etc/X11/xinit and /etc/xdg/xfce4 directories

[EDIT]
I have to admit that I followed this http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xfce4 to install xfce4

Re: xfce problem [SOLVED]

iirc, deleting ~/.config/xfce4/ may help.
