How to install package files to another place

Hi geeks,

I have my Hdd splitted acording to this schema:

/dev/hda1 - winxp-c:\
/dev/hda2 - lnx-swap
/dev/hda3 - /boot
/dev/hda4 - extended
  /dev/hda5 - arch-root (6GB)
  /dev/hda6 - /mnt/daaata (rest)

In Windows age I installed big programs and games to dedicated partition, out of system partition (typicaly D:\). Because I have 6GB root partition a big /mnt/daaata partition with tens-of-GBs, I want to ask:

> Is there a posibility to install e.g. Torcs or another big game package to my dedicated big partition?

Re: How to install package files to another place

The location for packages is fixed in the PKGBUILD and points to /usr (majority) or /opt .
You could try symlinking /usr and/or /opt to folders on your daaata partition, but atm pacman seems to have trouble with symlinks.

The easiest solution would be to create a separate partition for /usr.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
