VLC doesn't plays video files

ffplay plays video files, but with VLC I can hear only sound - there is'nt any video. I get this error:
[00000344] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `XVID'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
What package should I install, because ffplay plays without problems. hmm gstreamer0.10-xvid and xvidcore packages are installed...

Re: VLC doesn't plays video files

Sadly VLC breakages are everywhere right now. Rebuild VLC using ABS and it should work.

Re: VLC doesn't plays video files

Building it from ABS worked for me as well, though as a suggestion if you don't already use qt4, edit the pkgbuild --configure line to say --disable qt4 instead of --enable

Re: VLC doesn't plays video files

I had a the same problem with avi files.
I found this thread, where you can also get a compiled AUR build:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 64#p270764
Maybe it also works for Divx... wink
