Compiz fusion stable release

I see compiz fusion has a stable release now. Just wondering...is anyone moving to put that in the arch repo?

That ain't an official repo...

Official still has just normal compiz in community sad

Hoping compiz-fusion will replace that old compiz in community soon.

I didn't say it was an official repo ... or a repo of any kind. I was pointing to posts that may have provided the OP with additional info about how "stable" this release actually is ... "stable" is the term the OP used. The link you provided here was also provided in the very first of the posts that I suggested to read. And in that press release, it says:

NOTE : This is a Development Preview! There are still some major bugs! Do not install this on production machines. Our first stable release will be Compiz Fusion 0.6.0

Re: Compiz fusion stable release

There is no stable in this compiz / beryl / fusion land anyways smile

I think that compiz-fusion development release is stable enough to replace old compiz in community repo smile

Re: Compiz fusion stable release

I would love to see it in an official arch repo smile I know there is an unofficial repo already offering this "stable" release but the packages there want me to install nautilus and lots of other gnome stuff sad

It's not really a question of replacing it (seeing as you need compiz installed before you can use compiz-fusion), but the compiz in community is out of date.  The latest version being 0.5.2.  The weird thing is that the AUR reports compiz 0.5.0 in community and compiz-core 0.5.2 which I'm fairly sure are the same thing (just a different version).

Re: Compiz fusion stable release

In other news, can you carry emerald-git to the community repo? The new Emerald works without having to install beryl-core.

Re: Compiz fusion stable release

I would advise anyone wanting to try compiz-fusion to build the latest from git using the PKGBUILDs provided in the AUR. It really isn't that difficult to get them working and after you get setup to build you can update your packages anytime. It took me less than an hour to build everything. I had problems getting 0.5.2 working but the git version worked fine.
