Okay, so I have an IDE hard drive that I would like to make into an external. I would also like to boot Arch from this drive. So, obviously I would buy an Enclosure (from NewEgg ) Is this possible? Will I be able to boot Arch? I've tried Google with no results on regards to booting...
I've also seen some enclosures that require a disc with its driver. Are there any enclosures I should stay away from, or do you have any recommendations? Again, this all depends if I can boot or not. Sorry for all the questions. =/
Thanks!

Aslong as your motherbord supports booting from USB-devices.

When setting up the disk it might be a good idea to use persistent block device naming by partition label as discussed in this article
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Per … ice_naming
grub can then be set up to point to the partition label which would result in more reliable booting when using the usb drive.
