no luck with rox plus magickthumbails & videothumbnails

I installed rox, and then magickthumbnails and videothumbnails, except I don't get any thumbnails.  I did this:

rox:
  su -
  pacman -S rox
  pacman -S magickthumbnail
  pacman -S videothumbnail
  exit
  /usr/bin/magickthumbnail
  /usr/bin/videothumbnail

I browse to a directory of jpgs and bmps, and i dont get any thumbnails.  I noticed the right-click option in rox to see thumbails, and it made 1 thumbail for a MOV file I had.  maybe videothumbnail is working, but the ones for pictures are not.

any ideas?
