X11 problem

I am running archlinux dont panic, updated to current, when i closed openbox, all i got was a black screen. I reinstalled arch, updated, installed fluxbox, and the same thing happens, ctrl alt f# doesnt work, ctrl alt backspace doesnt work, i have to hit ctrl alt del and reboot to use my computer again. While in fluxbox everything is fine. I have a GM955/GL960 intel chipset. I made a xorg.conf script with 'Xorg -configure' and 'hwd -x' and neither helped.

Thanks,
Zack

Re: X11 problem

What xorg driver are you using/could you post the contents of xorg.conf?

Re: X11 problem

happened to me with xfce when i used the vesa driver. if you're willing to take a little risk you can try my solution;

1. uncomment the testing repo from /etc/pacman.conf (best to put it after the community server though so you only get the testing packages you need)

2. pacman -Sy testing/xorg-server testing/xf86-video-intel

3. Xorg -configure

4. cp xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Re: X11 problem

Thanks for the replies you guys. Some people in the freenode archlinux channel helped me a LOT. I believe it was holytrousers and mucknert. Basically what low said fixed it. I tried the vesa and i810 drivers. Switching to the xorg-server and intel driver in testing fixed it. Also, none of the X or system log files showed any errors. But it is fixed now, so no worries.
