Problem using Zed (editor)

Hi all,

In the good old Pentium 60 days I was very fond of the small, fast and versatile text editor Zed. I wanted to use it again and tried to build it. Of course the modern GCC4 compiler gave many error messages, so I gave GCC2 (from AUR) a try (using the prebuilt version from the last comment). After correcting a path in Makefile to xpm.h, 'make' seemed to function properly.

Then I tried to start the X version of Zed (Zedx) and the default screen asking for a file name appeared, but I wasn't able to type anything, even F1 didn't work. Neither does the program react on mouse clicks. The same when typing a filename on the command line: the specified file opens correctly, but I am unable to do anything and have to close the application using the close button. Does anyone know this editor and (a solution to) this problem?

Thank you in advance!

Marcel
