Minimize memory needed

Hi,

I just installed archlinux on a server. Well formerly there was Debian 4.0 installied in a minimal basic mode. It consumed less than 20MB.
Now I installed archlinux, installed the same services, but top tells me that around 700 of the 756MB RAM are used. top also has some processes running, I would simply kick, but as I don´t know what they are doing, I´ll ask first.

What processes/daemons can be stopped ?

thanks in advance
Kin

Re: Minimize memory needed

Maybe you can better check which processes are using the memory and then judge whether they should or shouldn't and whether they can or can't be killed. Are you sure the memory is actually used and not cached?
