This started happening after upgrading ndiswrapped and ndiswrapper-utils (1.43-1 -> 1.47-1) (rt2500 driver).
If more traffic is being generated, wireless stops responding. I can download for shorter periods of time no problem, however if I, for example, leave laptop downloading overnight, ndiswrapper randomly stops working (sometimes it doesn`t, but 9/10 times it does). Once it stops I can`t resolve domains or even ping IPs.
Using `/etc/rc.d/network restart` to reestablish connection does not always work, but if it does, connection usually drops after few minutes. Only solution is to restart the whole system.
`dmesg` does not have any related messages.

I think it could have to do with the dhcp server on my router, but I doubt it since I do not have this problem with windows.

It could be dhcpcd, as laptop seems to be connected to the router the whole time. I`ll try to fiddle with dhcpcd next time wireless stops working.
What router do you use?

Linksys WRT54GL

I have a D-Link DI-524UP, so it`s probably not router related.

my other guess has been that the kernel (through ndiswrapper) overheats the adapter and the adapter disables itself to keep from frying

After network stoped working this morning I killed dhcpcd and after trying to start it again I was greeted with `Error, wlan0: sendto: No buffer space available`. That`s probably the only lead I currently have regarding my network issues.

the problem is ndiswrapper
i have a work around (not a solution, unfortunately)
removing and reinserting the ndiswrapper module, then restarting the network daemon
modprobe -r ndiswrapper
modprobe ndiswrapper
/etc/rc.d/network restart
voila! fixed (well, until it happens again anyway)
