wireless on Thinkpad X41 and problem with 'locate' command

Hi,

I'm trying to install Arch on my thinkpad and I'm having a tough time getting wireless working. I have ipw2200 in my rc.conf MODULES list and I have installed ipw2200-fw. Still, every time I boot up, I get:

ipw2200: ipw2200-bss.fw request_firmware failed: Reason -2
ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: -2
ipw2200: failed to register network device

When I try to run locate, I get:

locate: fatal error: Could not find user database ' /var/lib/slocate/slocate.db':  No such file or directory

There is a 'slocate.db' in that directory. I tried uninstalling, removing from cache, and reinstalling but it didn't fix the problem.

Can anyone give me a hand?

Thanks!

UPDATE: To whom it may concern. Here are the solutions to the above mentioned problems:

1.) add the firmware hook to the mkinitcpio.conf file.

2.) updatedb as root
