[Arch64] first native Opera pkg

get it from the testing repo. no lib32 stuff needed. it's 9.50-Alpha1 but looks usable.

please report if plugins work or how to fix. here the gnujava and swfdec plugins got detected but won't work.

Sweet!

Is the MPlayer plug-in working? How about Gnash?

Indeed (and about time)! big_smile

skottish wrote:

Nope doesn't even pick it up.

skottish wrote:

Detects the gnash-gtk package, but it doesn't work.

Edit: It dose give the following error when it load

sh: /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer: No such file or directory

So maybe you'd have more luck testing 32bit plugs with the wrapper.

Re: [Arch64] first native Opera pkg

I've been playing with it for a bit, and it seems to perform well. One thing that's bothering me, and it may just be my lack of understanding, is the font rendering. They're ugly. Every font I tried, ugly. I'm doing my tests on KDE, so I wonder what's the problem.

Re: [Arch64] first native Opera pkg

The fonts weren't anti-aliased for the first two days. Since then they have magically fixed themselves.

Re: [Arch64] first native Opera pkg

Is there a different way I should be getting flash to work? I'm using nspluginwrapper, and it seems like everytime I close and reopen opera, it launches a new instance of nspluginwrapper.

AFAIK. flash 9 still doesn't work in opera 64. this is the only thing preventing me from using opera full time.

Well, flash 9 doesn't work in 64 bit at all, right? You need to use nspluginwrapper with firefox too

Without putting words into his mouth, he is referring to that. Nspluginwrapper is known not to be working with 64 bit Opera.

Well, besides nspluginwrapper opening 1,000,000 copies of itself, it works for me in 64 bit opera

The first two links below at the Opera forum talk about this:

It's also been reported on the Ubuntu forums as well.

Well.... after further review, I guess it was sarcasm? I could have sworn flash was working earlier...

beta 1 is out. They seem to have forgotten us x86_64 users, and I couldn't find a direct link to it. So here it is ftp://get.opera.com/pub/opera/linux/950 … 643.tar.gz

Re: [Arch64] first native Opera pkg

the latest build 20071109 has nspluginwrapper-flash working perfectly for me on x86_64 !

EDIT: and just like that, it stopped working on my MBP (Vmware Fusion) after a reboot, and is still sluggish on my desktop(how it always was). Go figure.

Re: [Arch64] first native Opera pkg

The most recent Opera build in testing won't install:

[skottish@localhost downloads]$ sudo pacman -Uf opera-9.50-0.7-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz
loading package data... done.
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: opera: requires qt3

Maybe someone ought to tell KDE that QT3 is missing.

EDIT

It's because of KDEmod. I changed the qt line to 'qt-enhanced' and it works.

Re: [Arch64] first native Opera pkg

For me, there's a misdisplay with gmail (the services are a vertical list now and the whole rest is displayed well, but moved down) and typing a url causes the computer to "freeze" temporarily. Flash doesn't work with gnash.
I still like it more than firefox, but I'm really waiting for midori to become usable.

EDIT

It's because of KDEmod. I changed the qt line to 'qt-enhanced' and it works.

Shouldn't it maybe be the other way round? I.e. shouldn't qt-enhanced provide qt3?
On a similar vein, I have forced an install of qt3 on top of my qt-enhanced install and it is working, too. But I am not so sure this is a consistent setup. Any suggestion how to weed that out?

In retrospect, I believe that it's because of the directory structure changes happening to the QT family. Funkyou already mentioned at the KDEmod forums that the updated packages for KDEmod will be released as soon as all the stuff in testing hits core/extra.
