Making new PKGBUILDs for out-of-date stuff in the AUR?

I'm putting together a new PKGBUILD for beaver, my favorite text editor!  The version in the AUR is 0.2.7, and I'm making a PKGBUILD for version 0.3.1.  How would I go about submitting something like this?  What if the maintainer abandons the PKGBUILD and lets it fall out of date?

You can always email the maintainer and check if they are still maintaining that package.  If not they can disown it and you can take it up.   If you get no response you can email the trusted users mailing list and get them to remove the maintainer.

Edit: By the looks of your other thread, you don't have it compiling anyway....

Or you can start by posting the PKGBUILD in comments... Then the maintainer can easily update his package.

To save time, reboot your computer in the background using "reboot &"

imho ppl who feel like sharing pkbuilds for out of date stuff or applications optimised in a different way than the arch packages, not free stuff etc. could also post em in webspace of their own as well..

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)
