hello,
does anyone know how i can change the applications run by gnome-open?
i'm not using gnome, only openbox standalone. i also don't have any fancy gnome configuration tools installed.
i need gnome-open since it is requiered by many gtk-apps.
i have no clue where to start searching.
thanks
vlad
ps:
found a dirty workaround:
i´ve installed thunar and changed the the default applications in thunar.
this also affects gnome-open.

Use the (well documented) xdg-mime utility.
I got rid of Thunar on account of its trash handling, killing my mime-type handling, so the posted solution was no good for my uses. To work around under Openbox, I installed gnome-open:
pacman -S libgnome
Adding the line
export DE=gnome
to ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh tricks xdg-open into using gnome-open (one could simply edit /usr/bin/xdg-open, but updates would clobber such a fix).
The xdg-mime utility settings now apply, but don't forget to
update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
