sudden xlib warning after starting vim as root

Just wondering where this msg suddenly came from when i simply start "vim" as root in a konsole screen:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

This wasn't there before.....
I didn't do any upgrades; but somehow I now have a vim enabled that needs x for (?clipboard information and ??setting the screen name??). (Didn't mess around with .vimrc either......)
Ok, there are solutions to give root the x, but that's not what i want of course...
Does anyone know how this suddenly could have come up?
thanks,

Re: sudden xlib warning after starting vim as root

Yes, suddenly appeared here too. No idea what's it (yet).

Edit: Noticed this isn't happening outside screen so I restarted the screen. Everything went back to normal.
