Cannot start opera after upgrade.

I was away for three mouths from my pc and when I got back the first thing I did was pacman -Syu.
After that opera, virtualbox and probably many other packages cannot start after the upgrade.
They give the same error:

[dheart@lightbringer ~]$ opera
/usr/lib/opera/9.23-20070809.6/opera: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have qt and qt4 installed and up to date.

Re: Cannot start opera after upgrade.

Hmm...
Actually I have those libraries. They are located in /opt/qt/lib
However the system seems not to find them.
Also skype refuses to start giving:

skype: error while loading shared libraries: libQtDBus.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

But libQtDBus.so.4 is located in /opt/qt4/lib
Any ideas?

Re: Cannot start opera after upgrade.

The problem I can solve the problem by ading a symlink to those libraries in the /usr/lib directory, but I feel that is not the solution...

Re: Cannot start opera after upgrade.

Post your /etc/ld.so.conf. If /opt/qt/lib is there, run ldconfig as root and try again.

Thanks.
I had only /usr/X11R6/lib in this file. After add /opt/qt/lib and run ldconfig everything work.
I probably delete my old /etc/ld.so.conf by pacdiffviewer, and probably I loss more entries from this file.

Can anyone paste typical /etc/ld.so.conf?

Re: Cannot start opera after upgrade.

That solved my problem too, but why did I lose the information in that file. My too contained only /usr/X11R6/lib

Re: Cannot start opera after upgrade.

Hello,

It's not usual that you loose all information in /etc/ld.so.conf. Usually, packages create a /tmp/<configfile>.<ext> or similar temporary file, and use sed or similar to remove the specified line (as sed -i -e '/\/usr\/X11R6\/lib/d' etc/ld.so.conf)

Could any of you send the pacman logfile to your last system upgrade, for us to see which packages got upgraded? The logfile should be in /var/log/pacman.log

Because that just X11 had an entry, i expect that X11 was updated. But i'd like to check the reason exactly. I once ran into similar troubles, and didn't know why, but it was quite a long time ago.

Thanks,
STiAT
