pacman -R just removes everything that pacman -A or -U installed for that particular package. The packages will remain in the cache, however, but you can clear this with pacman -Sc if you want.

Re: What is removed and what's not after pacman -R ?

Thanks for the answer.
So if i do a pacman -Sc does it removes only the un-installed tar
or it removes the still installed ones or both?
Do you need to keep the tar to un-install a package?
If so how do you remove only the un-installed ones?

Thanks again for your patience.

You don't need to keep around the .tar.gz files in your cache for installed software. 'pacman -Sc' will clear your cache, leaving it empty. I think if you want to remove only uninstalled ones, you'd need to do so manually, you can delete them from /var/cache/pacman/pkg.

Re: What is removed and what's not after pacman -R ?

For some package configuration file a re preserved even after disinstallation as con_file.pacsave.
It is not a big waste of space, just Kb of text file, on the other hand if you decide to reinstall again the package you still have the hold conf avail.

Cleaning the cache save surely a lot of space, but with time you will see that some time is better have the last pkg version in the cache for any eventual problem.

In the forum there are scripts by users that clean the cache leaving only the latest packages version.
