The official release notes of course you can find on the link bellow

Is there any chance to have it soon in arch repositories.

Too bad, almost no interesting changes.
The "Recently used" in Places for the file chooser might prove itself useful.

I beg to differ! I am actually very excited about this release (yeah, i might be a nerd, but as gnome gets more feature complete I can actually spend my time "using" my computer instead of finding workarounds to bugs/limitations).
Small things like updating the "stock" icon set, allowing input in pdf documents (no more adobe for me), just makes my day.
btw, good work you gnome devs!

I thinks it's a great release. I'm counting the days to it gets the official repo so I can test it.

I think the guy doing GNOME for Arch said it probably wouldn't make it into the repos until Sunday.
PS: The new Clearlooks is sexy.

openbox is just a window manager. you can use it instead of metacity. gnome + openbox = best of both worlds

* Looks like Evolution might now be almost usable for reading email. "Magic space bar," indeed...
* Why did they bother to touch the file chooser without adding thumbnails? That has to be the #1 requested feature for GNOME, but for some reason the developers keep resisting. It seems they think they know what the users want more than the users themselves.
* The new filesystem properties dialog reminds me of proud Windows XP owners 6 years ago.
* Why is there still no proper GUI for the keyring?
* And my pet bug is still unfixed (db broken as I write this [why does Bugzilla give out so much information to untrusted users?]).
Sorry, I'm not convinced.

I find also the development process very slow and not very responsive to the users requests. The GTK filechooser is really pain in the ass. BTW there is already file preview widget in GTK may be it's a matter of time to be implemented in most applications.

Does Nautilus now manage to order files in multiple columns (multiple list and not a detailed list) as Thunar do ? It would be a key feature to me but developers were reluctant to this, maybe it has changed so I ask !

And here's the creator
The new Clearlooks was coded before Aurora with its style, I got just inspired by the notebook tabs, but actually people don't like them so they will change for 2.22.
I hope you like this guys! A lot of damn work of optimizations

Other comments too, KDE is so better than GNOME imho.

Thank you Cimi for your contributions and thanks to everyone who helped get 2.20 out the door--even though they will probably never see this post! LOL
I'm not a huge fan of DE's in general, but so far I've stuck with GNOME the longest, and I'm pretty happy with where's it's going.

I can't believe this thread got jacked so quickly....
There are certainly some things that GNOME messes up on, but the biggest one I ever hear people complain about is the screen saver. Seriously, as stupid as that decision was, if that's the biggest thing people have to complain about (and often times the only thing they can think of), then GNOME isn't messing up too badly. Besides, KDE might have more options, but that doesn't mean they're better. And it CERTAINLY doesn't mean they're handled well. Gconf is wonderful, no matter how ugly some people may think it is. Besides, have you ever tried customizing the toolbars in Konq? Go do that, and then after you're frustrated and pissed that the KDE guys can't seem to think anything through, try to customize the Epiphany toolbar...and enter into bliss

Since I use Arch I have re-discovered Gnome and removed KDE. I really enjoy it's simplicity and the way things are done at Gnome, as I really like the KISS principle at Arch. I am not sure that Gnome is KISS in it's development, but at least the result is KISS (imho).
When I looked at 2.20 release's changelog, I also though it was a bit light for a 6 month development.
But I prefere having a few more features, a stable new release and a good documentation/translation than the contrary.
In fact I think I am getting old : I now use my computer for other stuff than playing with Linux and my distro ... ! I need simplicity, few maintenance tasks and stability. For that Gnome + Arch is perfect !

It would have liked to see some speed optimizations (even mem?)

while it's great and all drag and drop toolbar customization doesn't exist in any of the other gnome apps.

there's a legendary by now post request asking nautilus devs to basically copy the code from epiphany into nautilus, apparently it won't be done soon, it seems that stupid previous design desicions make it a pain in the ass to change the toolbars (I thing they actually are using bonobo for that)... I had to say it, it's the one bug I'd like them to fix (I'm even learning gobject and as soon as I understand it and bonobo I'll give it a try... it will definitely take a while though, you'd better not hold your breath)
