Finding out your refresh rate

My laptop's screen won't tell me. And I cannot where I'd find out where it is. I've set up my xorg.conf so that it has a high vertical and horizontal refresh rate and I've given it a modline. But I need to be sure, thanks.

Here's the rather inconclusive output from xorg's log.

(==) VESA(0): DPI set to (96, 96)
(II) VESA(0): Attempting to use 75Hz refresh for mode "1024x768" (117)
(II) VESA(0): Attempting to use 85Hz refresh for mode "800x600" (114)
(II) VESA(0): Attempting to use 85Hz refresh for mode "640x480" (111)
(II) VESA(0): Attempting to use 85Hz refresh for mode "640x400" (184)
(II) VESA(0): Attempting to use 85Hz refresh for mode "640x350" (1c4)
(**) VESA(0): Using "Shadow Framebuffer"
(II) Loading sub module "shadow"
(II) LoadModule: "shadow"

Re: Finding out your refresh rate

It's a laptop screen, the refresh rate doesnt matter as much. LCD's do not need to be constantly refreshed, they retain the pixel data from the last refresh, whereas on CRT it's lost.

Re: Finding out your refresh rate

Thanks a lot byte.

iphitus: Interesting, however I think I notice a difference now it's at 85hz - I don't know what it was before though.
byte: crappy ati support for xorg and my graphics card diverges from the norm somewhat being as my laptop is rubbish.
