open gl screensaver(solved sort of)

just put arch on my laptop and everything is fine except for the open gl screensavers. i can test and use all the others. all of the open gl's are blank. can't even test them. is there a package i missed or what. thank you

oops, sorry. it's a cheap acer laptop with an ATI rc410(radeon express 200m.

And what's your current driver in /etc/X11/xorg.conf? Should be one out of vesa, fglrx or ati/radeon. Vesa doesn't have hardware acceleration obviously, so try the other two. Start with fglrx (pacman -S fglrx) and if that won't work, try ati (pacman -S xf86-video-ati).

i'm using the ati driver--xf86-video-ati. been playing with xorg.conf and now i have the screensavers. all the opengl savers work real well except for euphoria which is choppy. the only other thing i notice is when i grep i don't have direct rendering but i'll keep playing. problem is i'm fairly new to linux and i've always used nvidia cards. they seem to be a lot easier to configure. thanks for the help.
