GNOME/Xmodmap - Bind keybindings (Ctrl+C for example) on one key

Hello!

I've got a Sun Type 6 USB keyboard. It's working wonderfully, the problem is another one. The useful keys copy, past and cut are'nt working. I've fooled with xmodmap around with no result. Actually, the apps are'nt using XF86Copy or so. Because of this i want to set Keybindings like Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V on one key. (Alternatively, someone can say what to do, that all apps use the keys)

Thanks
