Making two different mplayer packages?

I'm a user of the "non-graphical" version of mplayer, as an kde user it really annoys me to have to install gtk2 to get mplayer, could the mplayer packages be splitted up into two packages? on named "mplayer" which is mplayer compiled without gui support and "mplayer-gtk2" or something similar be mplayer with gui support?

Mplayer doesnt not need gui support to function with mplayer-plugin.

Why don't you just use ABS? It's just a matter of changing some configuration arguments.

ABS is probably your best bet.  You could file a Feature Request, but it would be very low priority and would likely only appear if a developer wanted it too...  You could supply a PKGBUILD to AUR.
