(Solved)Installation problem

After getting to the screen which says boot: and then hitting enter I end up with this error message:

EIP: [<c013f0bd>] kthread_stop+0xd/0x70 SS:ESP 0068:dff95d64
/sbin/hwdetect: line 335: 929 Segmentation fault modprobe $i> /dev/null2>&1

I have had a good trawl around trying to find any reference to this and can't see anything. Ive also tried all the options at boot like ide-legacy etc.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Re: (Solved)Installation problem

I won't be able to help if this problem is Arch-related, but the obvious first question should be: hasn't your downloaded cd been corrupted (did you check hash values)?

Zl.
PS: or, try these new ISO's, made by Tpowa to incorporate the repo-shuffle: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 59#p284659

Re: (Solved)Installation problem

I already have the 2007.08.1 iso. I also tried the install using both a base and a complete iso. It gets to the same place and stops. So I dont think it is a corrupt cd,  but I will have a check anyway just to see.

Thanks

Re: (Solved)Installation problem

Ive now checked the hash values and its not a corrupt iso either...

low memory smile
try the new core isos with lowmem as boot image.
96MB RAM are necessary
you can download i686 Isos here:
http://www.archlinux.org/~tpowa/rc-iso/686
you can download x86_64 Isos here:
http://www.archlinux.org/~tpowa/rc-iso/x86_64
