My music will be featured in rocksndiamonds on a Fedora release!

Look what I got in my email from my label this evening!

Dear Artist,
Im writing to inform you that a loop from your track "Come to
Me" will be used by a free operating system known as Fedora.  Fedora is
a non commercial site that offers free linux games online- Fedora is
always free for anyone to use.  The loop of your track will be found in
their newest game upgrade. Fedoraproject.org.  As you know, under
creative commons, non commercial projects use music for free so long as
no profit is involved.  I hope all is well, have a great day!

Regards,
xxxx xxxx

And it's the truth!  I thought going with a creative commons license would have its advantages, but I never knew that I would be contributing to the open source community, haha.

I extracted and ran it, and sure enough, my tune is played on level 3 of the game!  It's slowed down a lot in the game, but I kinda like it big_smile

YEAH!!

Ah yeah, by the way ... http://www.soundlift.com/synthead

What do you use to create your music, synthead?  I'm trying to figure out which are the best/most used audio composition tools on linux.

Aur  Community package for rocksndiamonds 3.2.4

Synthead, better check if your music is also part of this package.
If it isn't , it needs to be added !.

P.S. Congratulations

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

Thank you for your comments guys! big_smile

I use Fruityloops and a selection of hardware.  It's the last thing that keeps Windows on my laptop tongue

I am watching the ardour project very closely though.  When it gets MIDI support, things are going to change around here smile

Well didn't fruityloops run in wine if i remember correctly?

Is ardour getting midi support?

Why not use rosegarden? it has midisupport --> ie cubase.

...snip...

Sort of, but it has a lot of issues that causes it to crash, draw slowly, hinder audio performance (which is a big problem for an app like that), etc.

Fruityloops has a hard time running in Linux.  I can run it in a VM of course, but there still are limitations.  What it comes down to is I need to use ASIO and have consistant 1ms (or less) latency.

Is there some sort of equivalent to Fruity Loops in Linux? Or something like Cubase for example? Just curious...Even if it isn't as nice as the aforementioned programs...

There's LMMS, but it is extensively crappy right now.  I can see it being a great project in the future, but the development needs to hurry up big time.

And Ardour is a great program, but it is lacking MIDI support.  That is next on the list of to-dos for the group though, so it might be my FL replacement pretty soon.  They even have a Wine wrapper for VSTs!
