[Solved]Help with Static IP

Hey, I need some help getting my my Arch box to connect to my router via a Static IP. I have no problems getting it to work with dhcp.

I used this wiki as a guide http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Con … _Static_IP   and I am still have problems.

I am using a linksys router. Heres a SS of the status page

Re: [Solved]Help with Static IP

Post the output of ifconfig, can you connect to the router? A broadcast address ending with "248" seems weird to me, it's mostly ending in "255".
Putting the router's DNS in my resolv.conf doesn't work here, I put my ISP's DNS in there directly.

eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:30:1B:BA:19:93
          inet6 addr: fe80::230:1bff:feba:1993/64 Scope:Link

          RX packets:209912 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:140878 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:265900974 (253.5 Mb)  TX bytes:14852722 (14.1 Mb)
          Interrupt:16 Base address:0x2000

lo        Link encap:Local Loopback
          inet addr:127.0.0.1  Mask:255.0.0.0
          inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
          UP LOOPBACK RUNNING  MTU:16436  Metric:1

Re: [Solved]Help with Static IP

Ok cool, with Kumicos changes I can access my router, but I still can not get my internet to work.  I guess it has to do with my nameservers? Which I do not understand why they would not work because they work on my roomates windows box.

sorry didn't notice, you need to allow the gateway~ ..
ROUTES=(!gateway) to ROUTES=(gateway)

Re: [Solved]Help with Static IP

When using static addresses, you'll probably want to add a default gateway too.
eg.
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.149 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255
route add default gw 192.168.1.1.
