Hi all,
Thinking of upgrading my rig (AMD 64 3000 + 1GRAM). The AMD 690G (actually ASUS V3-M2A690G) looks very interesting for me so far as it fits almost all the bills: duall core, 1394, DVI. The thing I don't like is that it has an ATI graphics card, which I've been succesfully keeping away from for the last 5(?) years? But I only do 2D stuff anyway, so it won't matter too much. However, I'm not sure if the 690G is well supported otherwise by the latest kernel. Any input appreiciated.
Thanks,

I have a Microstar mother board with the AMD 690G chipset. It works great with Arch64 Linux, except for the 3D graphics. I knew this going into the purchase, and the only reason I ordered the Mother Board is because I had a Nvidia 6600 GT video card laying around. With the Nvidia video card it works absolutely great. Very fast and quite stable.
Whenever ATI issues new versions of their drivers, I can pop out the Nvidia card and try the integrated ATI graphics. Someday soon I hope ATI will have decent Linux video drivers.

Thanks for the reply. With AMD opening the spec for ATI chip, hopefully it will be OK soon.
