when is startx the resolution is 800x640, although i'm using the nvidia driver
when i set the resolution from nvidia-settings, then i get the 1024x768
but that's everytime i login
the other issue is i ave permission to the user to use hal
but on gnome i can't shutdown the PC
the dialog from System is LogOut only
that's possible?
turn off my PC like i did it on ubuntu?
or the permissions are only available from the console?
well, that's all
i can say I COULD INSTALL THIS DISTRO

A lot of problems here - I suggest digging through the wiki some more (look up stuff about groups, for example, to add your user to proper groups so you can use hal).
As for the gnome log out problem - my guess is that you are starting it using startx command. Try setting up GDM or another login manager, that should enable you to shut down from gnome.
As for the X resolution - can you post your xorg.conf?

I will answer this: on gnome i can't shutdown the PC ,the dialog from System is LogOut only.
To have the options to shutdown/restart in gnome. You have to let gdm (Grafiks login manager) to manage it.
nano /etc/rc.conf and in the line DEAMONS add gdm.Her is mine DAEMONS=(syslog-ng network netfs crond @sensors gdm)
And if you want to loggin directly to gnome do this( i.e don.t need to give loggin name and passwd):
At first boot type as usual loggin name and passwd, then system>administration>login window
then chose tab security and enable automatic loggin add your user name.

OK, try replacing your section "Screen" with something like this. Backup your old xorg.conf first!!!
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Card0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768"
EndSubSection
EndSection
This should give you 1024x768 in 24 bit color.

sorry, but i didn't want to make another post...
the sound quality isn't bad, but no so good as in ubuntu
i read something about alsa here
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?tit … section=14
but i don't get it
with some apps, like amarok, i realise that with OSS outpu is a litle bit beter than with alsa
maybe an eq file on amarok would help me
i spend almost all the time listening music, so if you can't listen very well Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin, it hurts...
