Today i adopted two packages: gnome-system-tools and system-tools-backends . They were out of date. I think they are good packages and im trying to update them.
I made some trys and pkgbuilds. Heres the result:
system-tools-backends:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … =1&ID=1575
gnome-system-tools:
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … =1&ID=1576
Unfortunally they are not working as they should. Could someone give me some tips?

Mailik,
The packages are working now (at least some parts). Please, test it and give me a feedback.
Thanks.

Offline
They are running with gksu already.

not see that
for gdmsetup i see the command : gksu /usr/sbin/gdmsetup
but for the soft that come with gnome-system-tools, i see only the command without gksu. By exemple for configure users and groups i have only the commande : "users-admin"
maybe is it juste a strange thing on my system ?
Apart from that, it work

Strange. I added some lines to change the desktop files and add the gksu option (as you can see in the bottom of the PKGBUILD). Are you running the lastest release?

This is a duplicate of a package in extra/unstable and should probably be deleted, upstream is (hopefully) working to a new arch-supporting release.

The packages in extra/unstable were too olds, so i made a newer version of them. Is this a problem?

lame i am, that the old 2.14 that use
i have download the pkgbuild from the aur (liboobs, system-tools-backends, gnome-system-tools) and build with succeed. And the launcher from the menu work with gksu, but the soft don't work for me. Strange that users-admin (2.14) work and not users-admin from your 2.20 version :
[root@chocolat ~]# users-admin
(users-admin:10216): Liboobs-WARNING **: There was an unknown error communicating with the backends: The name org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends was not provided by any .service files

I stop to lose your time, and hope that somebody can treat to you better quality feedback

I get some warnings too, but the package works. Maybe my PKGBUILDs are missing some dependencies. I will take a look. Thank you for the feedback.
And no, you are not losing my time.

I made some patches to make everything work except the network module, we can work together to make them available, why don't we meet in irc?
I submitted them upstream, but they are waiting also forn the network module and now I don't have time to work on it.
Do you program in perl BTW?

Just a quick note to anyone that does batch upgrades every couple of weeks and all of a sudden has an empty users and groups gui or gets an error message about not having permissions, there are two things that most likely need to be done:
*username is your regular user name.*
sudo gpasswd -a username stb-admin
and, edit /etc/rc.conf and add stbd to the list of DAEMONS

just printer is working... why?
I have the same problem I can't start any of the services in gnome-system-tools except for printing. Every time I run it I get the error
[af@ANDRE ~]$ services-admin
(services-admin:9771): Liboobs-WARNING **: There was an unknown error communicating with the backends: The name org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends was not provided by any .service files

Is stbd running? Did you added your user to the stb-admin group?
What kernel are you running? And whats the perl version that is installed?

Yes stbd is running and my user is a member of the stb-admin group. I'm running the latest stock kernel from Arch (2.6.24) and the latest perl (5.10).

gst does not work with new perl (from testing) yet. Please, use perl from core.
# pacman -Q | grep perl
perl 5.8.8-9
core/perl 5.8.8-9 (base)

I do not know if it was directed at me, but I'm running perl from core.
