encrypt usb stick partition - decrypt on linux and windows

hello,

i want to encrypt a partition of my usb stick, but with a tool that makes it accessible also from linux AND windows. i thought of a portable tool, that´s also on the usb stick, so i can encrypt/ decrypt it on every  windows machine. there are tools for windows, there are tools for linux, but afais no tools for both.
any suggestions?

hello,

i've tried truecrypt and looks good. but the problem is that i cannot load kernel modules at university. is there another similar application with a self-contained binary, like the windows truecrypt one, that allows users to mount the encrypted file as a partition without loading modules?
ok, it hasn't have to encrypt a whole partition. it would be sufficient to reliable encrypt/decrypt a directory (but on both os).

Hi,

if you're not allowed to load kernel modules I think there aren't many options. But maybe quemupuppy is up to the task. Basically it's a puppy linux derivate which you can put on an USB stick along with a self-contained qemu binary (one for both Linux/Windows) to boot the OS inside the OS your PC is running. Then mount the encrypted container on the USB-stick and export it so the other OS has access to it. IIRC it's not able to read truecrypt encrypted containers/partitions out of the box - but I am pretty sure this feature could be added.
