Arch/Virtualbox Issues

I'm running on Windows XP SP2, and am trying my best to install the latest core version of Arch Linux. I've installed everything off the cd during installation, and using the "arch ide-legacy" option, I've gotten to a stable system so far. But I cant seem to get the internet to work.

I've tried changing DNS servers, turning my firewalls off, nothing has worked. Can someone please help me?

Re: Arch/Virtualbox Issues

R u installing arch inside a VM ???

Anyway, check if your hostname is set in /etc/hosts (i hope the location is right, i'm at work atm) and if the lo -interface is activated in /etc/rc.conf
If you have a dhcp server you might try an "dhcpcd eth0" as root to obtain an ip-adress and put the interface up - if this works you only have to configure your rc.conf with the right settings.

Yes, virtualbox is a virtual machine. I'll toy with my settings in /etc/hosts hmm

Re: Arch/Virtualbox Issues

Solved it...I think. In virtualbox, I stopped using NAT, and selected Host Interface. I then bridged that with my LAN connection, and presto it works. I'm so stupid. T_T

Re: Arch/Virtualbox Issues

Can you explain a little more how you create the bridge. I'm having the same problem, but when I try to select Host Interface rather than NAT, an invalid configuration message is shown.
