Hey,
Suddenly, with no apparent reason, though after a pacman -Syu, I lost most
entries in my KDE kickoff start menu (I am using the package kdemod-kdebase-kickoff).
For example:
Although openoffice and firefox are still installed on my computer,
I can't see them in the start menu anywhere.
Is there a way to automate the process of returning those applications back
to the start menu?
I tried re-installing firefox, for example, but for some reason it didn't do the trick..
Thanks
Fiod

I don't use kdemod so I couldn't help you, but allow me one general suggestion: if it's about problems with kdemod, either go directly to their forum or tag posts like this with [kdemod] in the title. That should help the right people helping you faster.

I had the same problem with gnome.
A solution here from aodhon worked fine - perhaps you need to move the kdemod stuff back over?
his happened to me when I upgraded last time I just copied /etc/xdg/menus to ~/.config and then just loged back into gnome and they were back.

Removed libx11-xcb and installed libx11 like the post suggested.
Worked like a charm.
Thanks a lot!

It looks likes this only effects people who had libx11 from testing prior to the packages moving to core/extra.
You simply need to 'pacman -Sy libx11' again and log out and back in. It's only when the new libx11 is installed prior to an upgrade that this occurs. As someone else pointed out, it's an association between more than one package but is corrected if you reapply libx11.
