I understand that Mozilla Foundation has issues with distribution of Firefox and Thunderbird logos, that why Arch has re-branded both the applications. But I find the default Thunderbird icon extremely ugly. I have a generic xfwm4 desktop at 1280x1024 with tango icons, still the Thunderbird icon is the ugliest on my desktop. I keep Thunderbird running in system tray using "alltray" and so have to see it all day long.
Now I am no artist, but I am sure there a lot of good people within the community. Couldn't we come up with better icons for Thunderbird? At the least we could use one of suitable icons from Tango icon project and come up with something better.

Go to /usr/share/applications , find Thunderbird.desktop , edit with nano, gedit or something:
Find this line:
Icon=thunderbird.png
And change link to your image.

png? What, no svg icon??
I don't know about thunderbird, but using kde and firefox I had to change /opt/mozilla/lib/firefox/chrome/icons/default/default.xpm to banish the horrible graphic from my taskbar and the firefox window.

All above are good suggestions. For the moment, I have replaced the re-branded icons with the original icons. But I was thinking if we could come up with some better defaults that can be used in Archlinux packages while re-branding.
