I assume that you are trying to get your personal message to be the song title.
I have emesene with this working fine. I have dbus-python installed (its in extra) - optional dependency
In Options, click plugins. It's the currentsong plugin. In preferences you want to select amarok
Then in the main window click the little musical note on the right to set the personal message

are you sure?
because i have dbus-python, and doesn't work the plugin
i read on the web that additional libraries are needed, which are not for Arch, like dcop-python
do you have a script running on amarok, like nowlistrenig or something like that?
the plugin's log is saying me that
error:Can't import dcopext or python-dcop
help

I have the music plugin working fine, too. I've installed dbus, dbus-python, python notify and I heard that you have to install kdebindings too-I'm using Gnome, so I had to get and install it..and make sure that in the Amarok's window the song's title is without the extension (.mp3, .ogg etc) because with the extension in the name the plugin doesn't work-at least for me...
Sorry for my English =P

you can use kmess?
on a sidenote, I wonder how much longer emesene will exist with a couple of their devs joining amsn (there can't be much left of their small dev team). Luckily amsn2 will have a core-client system, with the main client in EFL. Though there will also be gtk2 and qt4 clients, among others.

One of my friends is an amsn dev - as I understand from what he is saying amsn and emesene are effectively merging to form amsn2, which will be written in python. The idea is that they will create a main client and have different gui toolkits on top, gtk, qt, cocoa etc.

soubds good, i liked emesene as it was less bloated than amsn and looked alot neater and less..... huge
